Marui Bunta is introduced as half of Rikkai Dai Fuzoku's second doubles team. He's a volley specialist, and considered one of the best - Akutagawa Jirou fanboys him, and Jirou practically sleeps through most matches, with some very good players. Marui knows he's good; he's a bit cocky, which makes him fit right in with the rest of his team, a group of some of the most confident, most ruthless rivals that Seigaku has to face in the series.

On the other hand, Marui's also a bubble-gum popping teenager whose favorite hobby is raiding hotel buffets and who preps for each match by devouring a cake. He's quirky as well as confident, and probably the kind of senpai who counts poking at underclassmen as one of the best parts of being on the tennis game. Despite the obvious skill and drive he has to have to survive and thrive in a club like Rikkai, Marui also obviously has a wide playful streak. And it's the combination of those two things that make him such a cool character..

In Musical no Oujisama, Marui is played by Kiriyama Ren.
